We provided structural consulting services for a celebrity residence in Miami Beach, where the resident was interested in converting his outdoor courtyard into a livable space. The courtyard was surrounded on all sides by concrete walls and glazed openings, with no roof. Our engineers investigated the residence and took detailed measurements of the beams, columns, and load path configuration of the structure. During the site visit, we also determined appropriate ceiling heights and egress paths based on recommendations from the architect of record. Lastly, we assembled a structural analysis report rendering numerous options for the structural renovation including large open spaces and 30-foot ceiling heights complete with a glass skylight over the new living room area.
